😇Christmas or 🎁Presentmas???

Christmas. A holiday that everyone knows about. But not everyone knows the real meaning behind the holiday.

Growing up I LOVED Christmas! From seeing Santa to opening presents, so fun!! My parents always made Santa seem so real. He told me a story one time that he snuck downstairs and saw Santa going up the chimney and we 100% believed him. He even had my uncle in on the story which helped.

Christmas Eve we would go to my grandpas church and watch him sing in the choir then go home and put milk and cookies out for Santa. Once everything was ready and it was time for bed we were always allowed to open one present; normally it was matching pajamas we would end up wearing that night. We would hurry up and go to bed after that because you know…SANTA WAS COMING!!!

Looking back Christmas mornings were such a special time with wonderful memories I will cherish forever. My parents always made us wait at the top of the stairs to get things ready (probably to drink the milk and eat the cookies). After what seemed like hours they would take our picture and video us coming down the stairs into the living room. My grandparents would come over to watch us open presents and my mom’s brother, Uncle Matt, and my dad’s best friend, Uncle Dan, would come and stay with us some Christmas’s. SO much fun!!

Before we opened presents and before we put out the milk and cookies; on Christmas Eve we would always read the story of Jesus! Sitting around all excited and beaming with joy as we were anxiously waiting on the arrival of Santa we would sit (somehow we sat still while they read the story) and my parents would read what the TRUE meaning of Christmas is to my family!

Who is Jesus…glad you asked…let me tell you about my BEST FRIEND. Jesus is my savior who was born in a barn, that’s right a barn. He is the son of God! Crucified on a cross to take away our sins then was raised from the dead three days later. Now this is the super short version but if you want to know the whole story please ask…I would love to tell you!

Christmas isn’t just all about presents and Santa, it’s Jesus and Family…okay and maybe some cookies!

It’s CHRIST-mas not Present-mas. It’s a day we get to celebrate Jesus CHRIST!

So I encourage you go, today, and spend some time with your loved ones, talk about Jesus and read the story of Jesus’s Birth and don’t worry about the presents. Jesus wouldn’t want that anyways.

Go and read Matthew 1–2 and Luke 1–2.

I am going to take this time to pray for your families that you find the time this holiday season to read Matthew 1-2 or Luke 1-2. Jesus finds the time to listen to your prayers so I think we can find the time to read and listen to Jesus’s Word.

Just because December 25 is over for 2021 doesn’t mean we can’t read the story now.

Go. Enjoy. I know you will!!
