I want to share something with you that happened to me a few days ago. I was about 2 seconds late of witnessing a really bad accident on my way to work.
Did you know that your life could end in just one second. I was driving to work listening to one of my favorite songs, “Bohemian Rhapsody.” I swear I can sing every word on this song.
As I was driving I was coming up to 322 in Cochranton, Pa. I first saw smoke then a white car sitting in the middle of the street. Weird I thought. Then I saw the other people running around.
There had just been an accident and I was seconds from witnessing it or worse. People were running from every direction to help these complete strangers. Two FedEx drivers, who were behind the white car, ran up to the car with no care that it could explode at any second. (at least that is what I thought) He opened the drivers door while others tried to open the passengers door. No luck. They had to wait for bigger equipment. I sat in my car unable to move at the sight of what just happened but also in awe of all the people that were running around helping the three people who were in the car. I remember sitting there still unable to move just praying. Praying for God to project everyone that was around me. I will not go into detail but the driver and the front seat passenger did not make it. From what I saw they were killed on impact.
This also got me thinking to a question I once was asked, “Why do you believe in God.” Well, God changed my life. He made me see that my life had a purpose and He was always going to be there to love me and forgive me through the good and bad. I believe in God because He saves me everyday. He saved me from seeing that accident and He saved me from worse, being in an accident.
The other thing I thought of as I was sitting in my car was how each person sacrificed their life to go and help save complete strangers. I was in awe. Images that are locked in my brain. Even the lady who lived right next to the accident came down and was letting people use her driveway as a turn-around. She didn’t have to do that, but she did.
After about 15 minutes of sitting at the stop sign there wasn’t anything I could do so I headed to work. As I drove to work I called my mom and told her what happened. I remember saying if those people live it’s going to be a miracle. See when I got to the accident I assumed the white car was turning onto 322 and a semi truck hit the car. That is not what happened…The truck was turning onto 322 and the white car hit the semi. Later that day I was googling about the accident and saw the picture of the car. See it’s different when you witness an accident compared to seeing a picture online. You don’t get the whole story. The drivers side smashed into the semi and was so beat up they couldn’t show it. The passengers side they had to take the door off and that was even bad in itself.
I cannot imagine what the third passenger is going through but I’ve been praying everyday for him since that happened. Watching him curl up in a ball crying and talking on the phone was something that hit me. That is when I broke down when I told my mom everything I saw.
For those that don’t believe in God, WHY? WHAT is stopping you? HOW are you going to change? WHO are you going to confide in? WHEN are you going to do it? Challenge yourself to take that step and see what happens. If you are going to church, reading the Bible, and surrounding yourself in a Bible study or different friend group you’ll see a difference. I promise! I will say this won’t happen overnight, might take years. Took over 10 years for one of my prayers to be answered and I will be forever grateful for that time. Don’t get me wrong those 10 years was a horrible time. See I had Lyme Disease for over 10 years and didn’t realize. I remember praying everyday for God to help me and at times thought he wasn’t there. Took lots of friends and family praying for me to realize I was going to be okay, but in time.
I believe in God because he saved my life and continues to save my life everyday. So I ask you again, Why Do You Believe In God? OR Why Don’t You?? What Is Stopping You?
Think about it…
