Look Out Lyme, There’s a New Sheriff In Town

Today’s blog is a little shorter as it’s been a day of processing for me. A lot of information was given to me.

Tomorrow I am going to have a small procedure to get my permacath in.

What is a Permacath…“A Permacath is a special catheter used for short-term dialysis treatment. First a tunnel is created under the skin, then the catheter is placed inside a blood vessel in your neck or just under your collarbone and then threaded into the right side of your heart.”

I will be put under general anesthesia to get this placed in the right spot then right after go to my first treatment. This has been such an answer to prayer because they were going to have to put an IV line into my vein to start the treatment. If you know me I do NOT like needles, so that would not have been good. The permacath also will cause some pain for the first two weeks. I won’t be able to lift anything over 10lbs and I can’t lift my arm above my shoulder. So this is going to be an adjustment for me.

Today I met with my floor doctor who will be with me and the other patients each day. I also received my binder that we went over. The binder had my protocol, schedule for this week, foods I can eat and not eat, and so much more.

Things To Be Praying For:

  • Tomorrow’s procedure and my first treatment. I am nervous for the procedure but I know God will be with me through it all.
  • Jeremy and I and are relationship, that our being apart keeps bringing us closer.
  • My anxiety
  • The pain this permacath will cause for the first 2 weeks that it’s not too painful and there will be no infections.

Praises:

  • I can still eat mangos
  • The permacath is able to be put in tomorrow. Sooner it’s in, sooner it’s out.

  1. You are in my prayers. So glad you have the port, catheter thing. It will make it a lot more pleasant for you. So glad your Mom is there to care for you. I am praying for Jeremy too. God’s got this!
