TIME🕰️

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 CSB

I heard the saying the other day, “Child-Like Faith” and it got me thinking…I feel like that is me. How often when you are reading the Bible do you memorize or remember what you are reading? Me? Not often. I’ve been a christian my whole life and I don’t even know every book of the Bible, just the most popular stories. To not know certain stories from the Bible as an adult that hits different. So Jeremy and I decided to start reading the Bible together to learn and understand more, but mainly to be in the Word together. I encourage you to try and start at Matthew and work your way down through the books, reading a chapter or two a day.

This morning I was doing my devotions in my devotional ( UPON WAKING by: Jackie Hill Perry) and it talked about how TIME is the most common cause for not praying daily. We always have something going on, and that is SO true! Today I woke up and told myself I had to make chicken meatballs (which are amazing by the way). I spent forever making those, then did the dishes, talked to my mom on the phone for a bit, and finally I got outside to sit and talk to God and what did I find, my phone; where I sat for about 30 minutes scrolling. Today was my relaxing day where I didn’t have a doctor’s appt or something else going on so I was looking forward to some peace and quiet, and God. I finally sat for about 30 minutes reading His Word and it felt amazing! It might have been 2pm but I didn’t care and I don’t think God cares what time of day as long as you give Him the TIME.

So back to my question, why do we let time control our lives. We blink and our children are already turning 18 and graduating high school, that what I’ve been told my whole life at least.

We live in a world where time controls our lives and it’s very sad to see. If Jesus can die on the cross, for us, then we can spend 5 minutes talking to Him.

Jesus prayed so many times it doesn’t even tell us how many; just a few that I know of off hand are: before His baptism and before choosing the twelve disciples, but there are so many more. Jesus I am sure prayed for hours during the day, but He also spent His time thanking God as well. In Matthew 15:36 Jesus takes the seven loaves and fish out, breaks them, then gives thanks. So with this being said, if Jesus can talk to God daily why is it so hard for us? Jesus was just as busy as we are today but He made TIME.

First thing in the morning we need to ask ourselves a question. Are we going to start out the morning talking to God and inviting Him in or go on about our day without God. I see things more clearly now with wanting to be more prayerful and thankful. Open your eyes and SEE God, talk to Him in the shower if you have to, or while cooking breakfast. Just don’t go through life not having a relationship with God because time got ahold of you. In my devotional it said this;

“So then, to becomes more prayerful, we have to be more humble. To be humble, we need to be honest. Each morning, tell the truth. The truth being, you are needy even when it doesn’t feel like it. Then, turn toward God and pray.” -Jackie Hill Perry

  1. It was so good to read your blog post again.   I like your thoughts on time.  This morning the Oswald Chambers devotional was on Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you.”  Such a simple concept, but one that distractions can do easily pull me away from if I am not focused.  Making time with Him the first action of my day (of course with coffee in hand), gives great joy, peace and direction to my days.  When I don’t spend that time daily, it invites chaos and defeat into my life. I love that you and Jeremy are making reading Scripture together a life habit.  It will make a strong bond in your marriage.  You have a gift of writing you know.  Keep it up!
